A unique combination of activities in the middle of Carinthia!

In winter this small town is a paradise for downhill and cross-country skiers, in summer for hikers and cyclists. And when the weather is poor, there are the thermal spas.

Bad Kleinkirchheim in winter: after a day on the piste, warm up in the spa

Bad Kleinkirchheim offers 103 km of pistes: 11 km blue, 84 km red and 8 km black. It lies between 1,100 and 2,055 m above sea level, so beginners and experienced skiers alike will find their run.

About 97% of the pistes can be covered by snowmaking, so there is no need to fear bare hillsides. The great local pride is the Franz-Klammer-Abfahrt World Cup piste.

We must not forget cross-country skiers either. The 8 km Römerloipe trail awaits them here.

If you get cold on the slope, you can warm up in the Römerbad or St. Kathrein thermal spa. Both are right in the village, a short distance from the cable car. At Römerbad an outdoor pool awaits you with a water temperature of 32 to 34 °C and a view of the surrounding countryside.

Bad Kleinkirchheim in summer: by cable car or on foot into the biosphere reserve

Bad Kleinkirchheim lies at 1,087 m above sea level, right on the edge of the former Nockberge National Park. Since 2012 it has been part of the UNESCO biosphere reserve Salzburger Lungau & Kärntner Nockberge.

The town is a perfect starting point for discovering the surrounding countryside, whether on foot or by bike.

Straight from Bad Kleinkirchheim a cable car takes you to the summit of Kaiserburg at 2,055 m above sea level. Several different trails continue from there.

Accommodation in the area

There is no shortage of accommodation in Bad Kleinkirchheim. The choice runs from rooms with local families to places for demanding guests. Many of them also offer a discount on the ski pass.

Typical local cuisine

Do taste the Carinthian specialities. How about the local filled parcels, Kärntner Kasnudeln? They are pasta with a filling, in savoury and sweet versions.
