Hotel Landhotel Post*** stands in the picturesque town of Ebensee in the Austrian Alps, by the Traunsee. This hotel offers comfortable and cosy accommodation for guests, who are looking for a quiet setting and the chance of an active holiday in nature. The three-star Landhotel Post lies in the heart of the Salzkammergut, on the southern shore of the Traunsee in Ebensee. Ebensee Landungsplatz railway station is about 200 m away. The indoor pool is about 100 m from the hotel, the museum of contemporary history about 250 m and the Traunsee about 300 m.
Location: Ebensee: 443 m above sea level, 7,933 inhabitants; Gmunden 17 km, Bad Ischl 18 km. The Feuerkogel ski area 1.3 km, the Dachstein West and Krippenstein ski areas are 40 min away by car.

Facilities: The rooms, suites and family apartments are cosy and furnished to a high standard. Kitchen:
Natural ingredients for hearty dishes as well as regional and international specialities. A lift and enough parking spaces available. The restaurant is reached through a covered entrance.
Room description:
The rooms and apartments have a WC and a bath/shower and a large LCD TV with digital HD resolution. They also have a telephone and high-speed Wi-Fi, and some have a balcony or a terrace. Some rooms also allow an extra bed. The fully barrier-free hotel also has 3 specially adapted barrier-free rooms.
Double room: approx. 25-30m², occupancy: 2 adults or 2 adults + 1 child (up to 11.9 years).
Single room: approx. 20 m², occupancy: 1 adult.
Family room/holiday apartment: Minimum occupancy 2 adults and 1 child, maximum occupancy 5 adults. The room has a living room, 2 bedrooms - one with a double bed and the other with two separate beds, a fully equipped kitchen, bath/shower, WC, TV, telephone, safe, hairdryer, WiFi, flat-screen TV.
LICHTERZAUBER:
From 27 November 2025 the Salzkammergut treetop walk turns into a glowing setting for unique winter moments. An extraordinary winter experience awaits visitors on the Grünberg mountain in Gmunden – hundreds of thousands of soft lights light up the walk and captivate guests young and old. It starts on 27 November 2025, and anyone who does not want to miss the spectacle should note the date in the calendar. The magic of lights on the Grünberg can be experienced until 11 January 2026. Closed: 24, 25 and 31 December 2025.
In this period the treetop walk is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 13:00 to 20:00, with the last entry at 19:00. During the Christmas holidays the “Magic of Lights” is accessible daily (except for the Christmas holidays and New Year's Eve). On opening days the Grünberg cable car takes you up the mountain and back between 12:30 and 20:30.
ADVENT AT WOLFGANGSEE:
St. Wolfgang am Wolfgangsee
Romantic Advent “Advent as it once was” – that is the motto of the Advent at Wolfgangsee, which the press has several times named the most beautiful Advent market in Austria.
Four-metre-high angels form the entrance to the romantic town centre decorated with fir trees, candles and metre-high torches. From the lake you can admire a huge floating lantern with the light of peace. Here the Christ Child is awaited with joy, and a thousand years of history invite you to stop and savour the magical atmosphere. No visitor should miss the unique roughly 80 life-size nativity figures. A musical backdrop of genuine folk music from the region provides the special atmosphere.
Strobl – the nativity village
A brightly shining six-metre-long comet floats above the nativity village of Strobl and shows the way. The tailed star as a symbol accompanies you through the whole town. The idyllic village on the Wolfgangsee turns at Christmas time into a romantic nativity village. As soon as you arrive in Strobl, the shepherds' path leads you to the large Advent gate.
Right by the lake the Nativity Stable awaits you with life-size figures, a horse-drawn carriage and a shepherds' station. In a small animal corner, sheep, goats and other domestic animals wait to be petted.
St. Gilgen – Baroque Advent
An eleven-metre-high candle shines from far away right on the lakeshore and shows the way to St. Gilgen on the Wolfgangsee, which more than 50 giant candles wrap in a unique light.
Carefully decorated stalls with traditions on the church square tell stories of St Nicholas and of the ringing Glöckler and present colourful scenes of the Advent season. The rich decoration by the artist Raja Schwahn Reichmann draws the whole town into an exceptional mood. Three-dimensionally painted figures – people, angels, animals – are inspired by the colourful three-dimensionality of Baroque wall and ceiling paintings and keep revealing new details to visitors.
Bad Ischl – craft market
Every year the craftspeople of Ischl invite you to their traditional Christmas market. You can look forward to original handmade products from the imperial town, to typical culinary specialities and to an impressive, varied supporting programme.
The craftspeople of Ischl are known far beyond the borders of the Salzkammergut for their masterly ability to combine the beautiful with the useful. That is exactly what is understood as craft art in Ischl – art that is cultivated here in its most beautiful form and presented during Advent in a pre-Christmas decorated atmosphere.
Here “presentation” does not mean merely displaying the products, but much more – at the Christmas market a sensory experience awaits your eyes, nose, taste and ears.

Advent market in Salzburg (20.11.2025-1.1.2026)
It is one of the oldest and best-known Christmas markets in the world. Its history goes back to the 15th century, and the magical setting of the historic centre below the Hohensalzburg fortress gives it an inimitable atmosphere. The main action takes place on Domplatz and Residenzplatz, where among stalls scented with gingerbread, roasted almonds and hot punch you will find traditional crafts, decorations and Christmas gifts. Visitors will also enjoy the rich cultural programme – from Advent concerts through singing choirs to performances by children's groups. There are also displays of old customs, such as the parade of devils or the “Turmblasen” – carols played from the cathedral towers. The whole city glows with lights, the streets are filled with the scent of Christmas spices and the atmosphere is full of anticipation of Christmas. The Advent market in Salzburg is a place where history meets tradition and where every visitor experiences the unique magic of Advent.
