*Schafberg – a legendary viewpoint with a mountain hut and refreshments. From the summit you will see 6 lakes and the surrounding Alps of the whole Salzkammergut as far as the Dachstein.
** It is possible to make the boat trip on one day (you may board and get off 1 x at all 7 stops on the Wolfgangsee) and take the train up the Schafberg on the other day - this option is for a surcharge - adult 620.-Kč and child 4-14.9 years 200.-Kč
***What actually are Zaunerkipferl and Zaunerschnitte?
It is a crisp, crescent-shaped dessert (kipferl = little crescent roll) made of fine nut pastry, a nougat-chocolate filling and a chocolate glaze
Zaunerschintte - is a layered pastry of: fine sponge and a nut base, nougat and chocolate cream, wafer layers, chocolate glaze It has a rich, slightly nougat taste and is one of the best-known specialities of the Salzkammergut.

Hotel description
The family hotel welcomes you in the quiet resort of Abersee, only a few steps from the romantic Wolfgangsee. The picturesque centre of Strobl or Sankt Gilgen on the lakeshore, with restaurants and small shops, is only 5-7 minutes away by car, so you can set off on a pleasant outing at any time. Hotel Carossa is furnished in a traditional country style and feels cosy and friendly. There is a reception, a restaurant with a tiled stove where you can enjoy a cup of hot tea or mulled wine after returning from the Advent markets, and also a house bar with a pleasant atmosphere. There is a library where you can enjoy quiet moments by a crackling fire, and a large garden of 10,000 m² with old trees, which in winter looks romantically snow-covered and in spring and summer is a place to relax. There is also a terrace, a ski room, a bike room, free Wi-Fi throughout the house, a lift and free parking.

A summer stay and the atmosphere at the Wolfgangsee and Salzburg:
A summer stay at the Wolfgangsee offers an ideal combination of an active holiday, swimming and rest in the beautiful landscape of the Salzkammergut. The area around Abersee, St. Wolfgang, St. Gilgen and Strobl offers a crystal-clear lake, mountain panoramas and a number of hiking and cycling routes.
The area is a perfect starting point for boat trips on the Wolfgangsee, easy walks along the lake and mountain hikes with breathtaking views of the Schafberg and the surrounding peaks. Lovers of an active holiday will appreciate the wide range of water sports, swimming and the chance to set off on cycle paths through the picturesque landscape of the Salzkammergut.
A great experience is also the boat trip to the romantic town of St. Wolfgang or the ride on the historic SchafbergBahn rack railway, from where some of the most beautiful views in all of Austria open up. The pleasant atmosphere of the region is completed by traditional coffee houses, restaurants and summer promenades along the lake. The nearby imperial town of Bad Ischl invites you to sit in the renowned Café Zauner, to walk through the historic centre and to discover the spa history of the region.
You can also vary your stay with a visit to Salzburg, about 40 minutes away by car. Waiting for you there are the historic centre on the UNESCO list, the Hohensalzburg fortress, the Mirabell gardens and the unique atmosphere of Mozart's city full of coffee houses, music and summer cultural events.
